The Quilt Collection
Friends Come to Tea-
This Painting was inspired by my grandmother's quilt. The intricate detailing & extensive use of colors was a joy and a challenge. I have collected Oregon antiques for many years and these pieces have their home in this piece. The upper left plate is from the Lewis and Clark Exposition of 1906. The plate on the right is from the 1959 Meier and Frank 100 year Centennial of the State of Oregon. I have collected copper luster and pink lusterware for years. Most lusterware was made in England from 1820 - 1950. The blue and white pot is "Victoria Blue." Surrounding our home the wildlife abounds and many have become friends, with their own unique personal characters and sense of humor, they periodically show up for tea.
Summertime Lavender Lemonade-
Oh the joys of summer! The meadowlark announces the coming of summer. The colors, the sounds and smells. There is nothing like enjoying a summer moment with homemade lemonade on the back porch. Summer Lavender Lemonade was a joy to paint because of the colors and patterns in the quilt. The green sunflower depression glass provides a perfect match with the lemonade pitcher. The chipmunks and golden mantel chipmunks enjoy scurrying all over to investigate their great find. One chipmunk decides to bite a lemon as the golden mantel waits for his expression!! Another chipmunk tries to read the recipe so he can make his own at home. Some of the insects captured as detail on the fabric decide to leave on their own.....they simply don't want to be fabric anymore and just want to enjoy summer. I sit in the lavender bowl among lemons painting the captivating scene......in my favorite summer hat.
The Sisters Quilt-
The small and quaint city of Sisters, Oregon sits quietly at the foot of the beautiful Three Sisters Mountians. The town is alive with the western spirit and attracts toursits from all over the world.Toursits come to hike, camp, ski, bike, fish, swim... and to take in Oregon's natural beauty. Jennifer has depicted the town in a form of a quilt to honor the largest outdoor quilt show in the United States that is held each year. From car shows to rodeos this community never seems to run out of things to do and the volunteer spirit to make it all happen.
The Pacific Northwest Quilt-
In the mid ninties, Jennifer was commisioned by the Craftwarehouse chain of stores to paint a quilt that inspired the Pacific Northwest. Each square represents a beautiful location and a famous area in Oregon and Washington. Painted in Jennifer's whimsical and colorful style, it provides the collector a instant trip thru two of the most beautiful states in the United States.
Soon to be added ,Hickory Nut Picking and Holiday Dazzle ...make no mistake, just like the others in this collection the detail will be unbelievable!
